About the Author

Don Graham was raised in California. His mother, Ruth, was a longtime employee at the Mare Island Naval Base in Vallejo. A staunch patriot who grew troubled by America's engagement in Vietnam, she was also a deeply spiritual woman who read cards, raised Don with a belief in the unseen, and connected him to several remarkable "readers" of energy.

Don received his bachelor's degree from San Francisco State University and married his soul mate, MaryAnne Pramuk, in 1967. They were beginning their move to Chico, California, where Don had been admitted to the California State University master's program in psychology, when the draft board changed their plans. These years saw the Vietnam draft was at its peak, fueling an endless need for soldiers. Coming Home Whole chronicles his changing perceptions of the war and his potential role in it, his service in Vietnam, and the many synchronicities that led to his journey home.

After leaving the Army in 1970, Don returned to California with MaryAnne and their infant son Matthew. A second son, Timothy, was born in 1972. In 1973, Don completed a masters degree in counseling psychology; he received a doctorate in educational psychology in 1978.

Don worked for several years running the Office of Testing and Research at the California State University at Chico. In 1982, he accepted the position of Director of Psychological Counseling, Wellness and Testing at the university.

From 1985 to 1990, MaryAnne and Don worked diligently in Beyond War, a peace-oriented movement founded in 1984.

In 2004, Don became the university’s Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, a position he held until he retired from the University in 2007.

Today, he and MaryAnne live in Sonoma County, California, in the “Valley of the Moon.” They greatly enjoy activities with both of their sons, Matt and Tim, and their sons’ families, all of whom live in Santa Rosa.
